Industry Spotlight: Trek World Racing

I've been accumulating a good amount of photos of different race teams and riders over the last  couple months, so I thought I'd bring them together for a monthly write-up. First up is one of the most solid performing teams out there right now: Trek World Racing DH

Overall dominator and record crushing champ, Aaron Gwin on his way to another victory at the 2012 Southridge Race Series.

Justin Leov boosting the big jump during practice at this year's Sea Otter Classic. He placed 7th overall.

Neko Mulally on his way to a 5th place finish at the Ol' Otter.
Rich Houseman not only races as a professional, but also manages the ODI / Trek Satellite team, a squad of up-and-coming rippers being groomed to rule the race circuit.

Rich shows no mercy on loose berms!

One bike to rule them all. Surplus issue Session 8.

Jason Schroeder boosting a jump during the Suspended Productions video shoot.
Jason & Charlie Harrison playing a little "cat & mouse" at one of California's  premiere training grounds.

Cleveland Forest

Hiking up the Los Pinos trail off the Ortega Hwy.
This is a very steep and challenging hike or bike in either direction.

This is only the second time I've seen the reclusive Horned Lizard.  They look prehistoric.

San Juan Trail in the background

Driving home, I saw this really cool Airstream camper parked at Caspers Park. Made a quick U-turn, and got about 5 shots before the sun went behind the mountain.

Custom Paint

After getting my first TLD D3 a few months ago, I've been a bit obsessed with their helmets. Not only do they look amazing, but are by far the lightest and most breathable bike helmets around. Here are a few custom versions made specifically for each rider. So jealous.

DH Beach Exploration!

Lately we've been scouting out riding spots outside the normal bike trails as much as possible. This cliff looked like something that could be ridden with a little work and the right rider. I met Adam Digby here 2 weeks ago to take a look, and he was confident that it could be done. We built it up, but the wind was howling that day so it was best to come back some other time with better conditions.
We arrived the next week and quickly went to work setting up. The weather was really nice which brought out a lot of joggers and beach go-ers on the trail just below. With Adam's friend Sam doing traffic control, we were able to get some great shots on this cliff, and the sky turned on some amazing colors also. It was also interesting to hear and see people's different reactions from "awesome" to "he's gonna kill himself". That type of interaction doesn't typically happen on your average shoot.  Overall, I'm really stoked at how this went and the photos we got out of it. Thanks to Adam for stepping it up and doing this multiple times. Now, time to look for the next spot...

B/W in Japan

A few photos from my last trip to Japan. Tokyo is an amazing city with so much to look at. We ended up going to a bike park in the countryside for a few days also, which made for a nice variety. The last photo from Shibuya was used on a t-shirt for Etnies. Can't wait to go back!
